Roamin' the Roost
photos and text by Dan Ransom

Eric Godfrey on the final rappel in Water Canyon.

The itinerary called for 5 days in the Roost. 7 canyons. A few "old" classics, and a few "new" canyons from Kelsey's latest guide. Some slots were worth doing again, some were worth doing once, and perhaps a few are best described as more than I thought, but still not a lot of slot. But either way, October in the Roost is a mighty fine place to be, indeed.

Lost Park - A couple of short slots not far from the Bluejohn complex. Nice narrows, long walk.
Bluejohn Loop
- Down the East, up the Main, with awesome light in the Cathedral Narrows.
East Water & Horseshoe
- A decent slot and some of the best 'glyphs around.
Low Spur
- Kelsey says it is the most unusual feature he's ever seen... We had to see for ourselves.
Smallcatraz
- A short fork of TCB, with a few bizarre features.
Li'l Bull
- Close to Chambers. And that's about it...
Chambers
- Always a classic.
