The 7mm Aluminum is incredibly light. Zut Alors! Used for putting your Spelegyca on your harness, rigging a frog system and, uh... stuff.  Actually, the 10mm works much better as a belay loop, the Spele webbing and/or a carabiner fit comfortably inside the 10mm, but bind up inside the 7mm.

 

Not that good for leaving on rappel anchor, being aluminum and not all that durable - but they sure are light - and therefore good as exploration rapides, and for emergencies.
