Wow!  A great book by reknowned backcountry explorer Courtney Purcell to roughly 240 (240?!!) backcountry ascension adventures in the Las Vegas area.  While the first third is devoted to the amazing Red Rocks, CP also covers other mountains in the Nevada Desert, Great Basin NP, Lake Mead, northern Arizona and Mojave National Preserve.  While it has few maps, the explanations are good enough for saavy people to figure out - and this is not a book for occasional hikers!
