The Arch-ography Fun Site

When I moved to Utah, I figured I'd go out and take a picture of every arch in Utah, you know, as a fun thing to do. Over the course of a couple-a years.

That was, obviously, before I had a clue as to how many friggin' arches there are here in Utah. So it's still a fun project, just not one I am likely to complete anytime in, say, the next fifty years! For your entertainment, here's pictures of arches I have visited in the last couple of years.

Arches are denoted using WGS84 UTM Coordinates (as proposed by NABS). Locations are somewhat approximate.

Canyonlands National Park

	Wedding Ring Arch NADSQNO 12S-610545-4207825 An interesting double arch in Upper Salt Creek Canyon. The arch is not correctly labeled on the USGS Quad and Park map. UPW #0205.

The Escalante

	Golden Cathedral, Neon Canyon NADSQNO 12S-485480-4162755 Neon is a side canyon of the Escalante River. This is a wonderful triple Natural Bridge above a pool, locally known as the Golden Cathedral. Truly a sacred place. UPW #0233. See also Image #0005b: Neon Rappel with Ripples

Zion National Park and vicinity
	Eye of the Needle Natural Bridge, Oak Creek NADSQNO 12S-322885-4142290 A natural bridge is at the bottom of this picture (hard to see, perhaps impossible), known to canyoneers as the Eye of the Needle. Smart alecs (like me) will rappel through the natural bridge, forcing subsequent canyoneers to do the same. UPW #2002024.

	Imlay Natural Bridge, Imlay Canyon NADSQNO 12S-326555-4131320 (approx) Near the start of the first *extreme narrows*, this beautiful natural bridge makes for a fun, balanced rappel. UPW #04012

	Great Cathedral Rappel in Pine Creek Canyon. NADSQNO 12S-327570-4120210 A cool double arch/natural bridge in the popular technical canyon descent, Pine Creek. UPW #9927.
	Arch with Crack in Misery Canyon. NADSQNO 12S-334850-4116940 Misery Canyon enters the East Fork of the Virgin River through a beautiful almost-subterranean grotto. This arch is inside that grotto. Bring a tripod! UPW #0053.
