Escarpment, San Rafael Swell (#9501)

Proposed in the 70's as a National Park, the Swell never made it into the big time. Somewhat chewed up by miners and the uranium boom, the Swell is a big land with many canyons and a lot of magnificent scenery. Much of it could become wilderness, if the ORV crowd does not chew it up too much in the interim. The BLM makes little, if any, effort to manage impacts.
