Zion Spring Wildflower Identification and Lady Mountain Hike

Ran up Lady Mountain last Saturday. We planned on a different adventure, which involved getting wet and cold, but not getting wet and cold sounded a lot better, so at the Zion Lodge we off-loaded. We hiked up the sorta-closed upper-Emerald Pools trail, shortly dumping most of the weight from our packs beside the trail. With lighter packs, we headed upward.

Atop the first roped "pitch"

Since I already had lots of Lady Mountain pictures, I did not take many on the way up; but did take pics of flowers, on the way down.

Atop Lady Mountain, Shaun and Cassy

Companions for the day: Shaun Vernon from Cottonwood Heights and Cassy Brown from Springdale/ZAC/Virgin. A good time had by all. The day was cool, so climbing the sunlit east face of Lady Mountain was pleasant. A fine choice for a fine day.

Spring has Sprung - late afternoon bus lineup

Spring has definitely sprung in Zion, and on a Saturday the place was crowded. The previous Thursday, it had taken me half an hour to get into the Park from Springdale. Returning to the Zion Lodge with very heavy packs, we took a bus headed up-canyon so we could get seats—worked like a charm.
